Wineryon and the D.O. Yecla Designation

Wineryon y la denominación D.O. Yecla

Wineryon maintains a close relationship with the D.O. Yecla designation, as the vineyards where the grapes used to produce DEMUERTE wines are grown are located in this area of eastern Spain. This territory gives the wines their personality, flavor, character, and uniqueness—key factors that have helped our wines win over the most demanding palates and, vintage after vintage, continue to bring us great joy in the form of awards and recognition.

Wineryon and the D.O. Yecla Designation

Yecla is the land of the Monastrell grape, the fruit present in all the wines of the DEMUERTE collection and the reason why they stand out so distinctly from other wines on the market.

For those unfamiliar with this area, Yecla is a town located in the northwest of the province of Murcia, known for its very hot summers and long, cold winters. This climate produces a wide thermal variation between day and night that benefits grape ripening.

The soils of the vineyards in the D.O. Yecla are mainly calcareous, with a high presence of carbonates and a sandy surface with clay formations, which makes them highly permeable.

Wine Production in Yecla

Yecla is also home to a Regulatory Council that oversees and protects the entire process of wine production and labeling in the area. Its work ensures the quality of the wines as well as carrying out major promotional efforts.

Currently, there are nine wineries operating under the Yecla Designation of Origin, exporting 95% of their production to more than 40 countries. Most produce red wines using the Monastrell grape, although they also make white wines and blend Monastrell with other varieties to create new wines.

DEMUERTE Wines and Their Relationship with the Monastrell Grape

The Monastrell grape is present in all the wines of the DEMUERTE collection. However, it plays a different role in each one:

DEMUERTE BLACK: Our 100% Monastrell wine. A clean, bright, deep cherry-red wine with a broad texture, smooth and pleasant entry, silky tannins, rounded flavor with plenty of fruit and jam, along with light toasted and chocolatey notes. In short, an intense and persistent finish.

DEMUERTE DELUXE: Here Monastrell makes up 80% of the wine, with Petit Verdot (10%) and Syrah (10%) completing the blend. A mature, smoky, slightly spiced, and highly suggestive wine with a cherry-red color and elegant aroma—ideal for a glamorous evening.

DEMUERTE GOLD: Monastrell represents 50% of this wine, complemented by Syrah (30%) and the distinguished Garnacha Tintorera (20%). This blend has allowed us to create an elegant, sophisticated, and grand wine, perfect for any special occasion.

DEMUERTE CLASSIC: Our first creation and the most classic. Made with 50% Monastrell and 50% Syrah, it offers an intense violet-red color and a smooth, creamy texture on the palate.

DEMUERTE ONE: Crafted with 90% Monastrell and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. An intense cherry-red DEMUERTE with a sweet, rich aroma reminiscent of ripe red fruits—intense and fruity.

DEMUERTE ROSSÉ: A blend of our cherished Monastrell (50%) and Syrah (50%) creating a crystalline, bright Provençal pink wine with notes of strawberry and cherry—a true delight for the senses.

In all cases, the presence of the Monastrell grape gives our wines their unique personality and helps them achieve success wherever they go. These are wines that captivate from the very first sip.
