{"id":6618,"date":"2020-04-08T12:16:49","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T10:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/uva-monastrell-la-reina-del-vinedo\/"},"modified":"2020-04-15T12:19:49","modified_gmt":"2020-04-15T10:19:49","slug":"uva-monastrell-la-reina-del-vinedo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/en\/uva-monastrell-la-reina-del-vinedo\/","title":{"rendered":"Monastrell Grape: The Queen on the Vineyard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Monastrell_(uva)\"><strong> Monastrell<\/strong><\/a> grape is one of the most used<strong> red grapes<\/strong> in the vineyards of the <strong>Mediterranean<\/strong> basin, although it can also be found in hot areas around the world.<\/p>\n<p>This is because it is a grape that adapts greatly to the clima swings of this area and that these are<strong> very resistant<\/strong> strains, which are able to grow and develop in hard-to-reach spaces or in soils of very diverse composition.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the grapes that has been with us longer, hence it is used<strong> throughout Spain<\/strong> by many wineries that use it as a base or together with other grape varieties to make their wines. Studies have been studying that this type of grape has been grown on our peninsula since the 5th century BC.<\/p>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/\"><strong>Wineryon<\/strong><\/a> we are committed to the production of wines from this grape, hence all the products that leave our winery have been made from it. And it is a grape with particularities when it comes to harvesting and taste that makes it conducive to creating modern wines.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/vinos\/\"><strong>Demuerte<\/strong><\/a> wine is made with this type of grape, sometimes as the only grape and others in combination with others. And it&#8217;s one of the best grades you&#8217;re getting in tastings around the world. Or that, in the case of our Wine<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/vinos\/demuerte-deluxe\/\"><strong>Demuerte Deluxe<\/strong><\/a> we make combinations. In this specific case based on the Monastrell grape but working it as follows: Monastrell 80%, Syrah 10%, and Petit Verdot 10%.<\/p>\n<p>Another result is that we get from mixing Monastrell grapes (by 50%), Syrah grapes (30%); and grapes of the Tintorera variety (20%) to obtain the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/vinos\/demuerte-gold\/\"><strong>Demuerte Gold<\/strong><\/a> wine; one of the most popular in our catalog.<\/p>\n<p>Simpler is the formula that we follow to make our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/vinos\/demuerte-classic\/\"><strong>Demuerte Classic<\/strong><\/a> wine, with which we debut in the market. In this case we work only two varieties of grapes: Monastrell la and Syrah, both at 50%.<\/p>\n<p>Another path we set in was the one that resulted in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wineryon.com\/vinos\/demuerte-one\/\"><strong> Demuerte One<\/strong><\/a>, in which we mixed<strong> Monastrell<\/strong> grapes in 90% and grapes of the<strong> Cabernet Sauvignon<\/strong> variety by 10%.<\/p>\n<p>In all these are formulas that, based on the Monastrell grape, satisfy all kinds of palates. Even the most demanding ones.<\/p>\n<p>[av_productslider categories=&#8217;280&#8242; columns=&#8217;3&#8242; items=&#8217;6&#8242; wc_prod_visible=&#8221; wc_prod_hidden=&#8221; wc_prod_featured=&#8221; offset=&#8217;0&#8242; sort=&#8217;popularity&#8217; autoplay=&#8217;no&#8217; interval=&#8217;5&#8242; av_uid=&#8217;av-24ymr5&#8242;]<\/p>\n<h3>Monastrell Grape: Key Features<\/h3>\n<p>The main characteristics of the Monastrell grape are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It is a late <strong>harvest grape<\/strong> that is born to be harvested in late<strong> September<\/strong> and early<strong> October<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Their clusters are<strong> conical<\/strong> in shape and have a<strong> lot of grains<\/strong>, so they are usually very tight and small in size.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"_1A9t-InL\">It is an intense <strong>black grape<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Its <strong>flavor is intense<\/strong> and usually varies depending on the area in which it is grown, although it is normal to remember or evoke <strong>wood and fruits<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It can be left to <strong>overmadriate<\/strong> in the strain for some time without the fruit deteriorating.<\/li>\n<li>It is a grape that can be mixed with <strong>other varieties<\/strong> such as<strong> Grenache<\/strong>, which is with which it has the<strong> greatest affinity<\/strong>.
